HOUSTON – September 11, 2024 – Teachers and students at Eisenhower Ninth Grade School (Aldine ISD) and Fisher Elementary (Pasadena ISD) were welcomed into newly renovated spaces Wednesday, as part of the Houston Loves Teachers initiative. The renovations were created through the collaboration of Good Reason Houston, the College Football Playoff Foundation, and the Harris County Houston Sports Authority as part of the College Football Championship game legacy.

At Fisher Elementary, confetti and excitement filled the room as students, teachers, and community members celebrated their new library for the first time. The modern space is designed to encourage learning, foster creativity, and promote collaboration, offering students the resources to learn, explore, and innovate. At Eisenhower Ninth Grade School, the organizations unveiled a new entry way.

In addition to the unveilings, both schools were surprised with checks to support their highest-priority campus needs. A total of $8,000 was distributed, including $1,000 each to teachers Yvonee Guerra from Fisher Elementary and Krystle Dawson from Eisenhower, in recognition of their contributions to the campus and their students.

Moments like these remind students and teachers that there are people who are not only committed to them, but investing in them,” said Stefanie Cruz, Managing Director of Houston Loves Teachers at Good Reason Houston. “We are proud to be a part of this transformation, bringing crucial resources to schools and uplifting the incredible students and educators who shape our future.”

As part of the broader Houston Loves Teachers initiative, Good Reason Houston is working to impact the lives of both educators and students in meaningful ways. This year, the organization plans to host professional development activities, special events, and engage teachers across at least 50 campuses.
